Samsung chief indicted on bribery charges In what poses to be a big blow to the world’s biggest smartphone maker, South Korean prosecutors have said Samsung Group chief, Jay Y. Lee and four other executives will be charged with bribery and embezzlement. Lee was arrested on Friday, February 17, 2017,  over his alleged role in the corruption scandal involving impeached President Park Geun-hye of South Korea. In a statement released by Lee Kyu-chul, a spokesman for the special prosecutor, he said:  'The five executives will face charges including bribery, embezzlement and hiding assets overseas.' 'Lee will also be charged with committing perjury before parliament. 'The executives to be charged are Samsung Group vice chairman Choi Gee-sung, president Chang Choong-ki and Samsung Electronics president Park Sang-jin and executive vice president Hwang Sung-soo,' the spokesman said. Official:Samsung suspends galaxy note 7 production until further notice. Samsung mobile has chosen to terminate the further production of the galaxy note 7 till further notice due to the technical challenges and the errors noticed by the users on the already circulated products. Samsung went under serious scrutiny from authorities for the hazards the note 7 posed to users,errors like over heating and in some cases automatic catching of fire had made them count their loses,and they said they had to take the drastic measure to evaluate and solve the problem.
