COLLEEN HOOVER
Colleen Hoover, born
Margaret Colleen Fennell, is an American author and a New York Times
Bestseller. With 11 of her novels and five of her novellas hitting number 1 on
New York Times bestseller. Hoover's novels are mostly the young adult and new
adult genres.
EARLY LIFE
On December 11, 1979,
Colleen Hoover was born in Sulphur Springs, a city in Hopkins County, Texas,
United States. She was born to Eddie Fennell and his wife, Vannoy Fite. Hoover
grew up in an unincorporated community in Hopkins County, known as Saltillo.
Hoover attended the Saltillo High School, where she graduated in 1998.
Hoover attended a
public research University in commerce known as Texas A&M
University-Commerce. There she graduated, earning a B.A in Social Work.
CAREER
Before the start of
her career as an author, Hoover practised as a Social Worker, working with
families, individuals and communities alongside working as a teacher.
Hoover writing career
began in November 2011; A song lyric inspired her from an American folk-rock
band from Concord, North Carolina, 'Avett Brothers'. The verse "choose
what to be and go be it" is from a song by Avett Brothers ", Head
Full of Doubt/ Road Full of Promise", which was what inspired Hoover to
start writing her first novel titled 'Slammed'. When Hoover started writing
Slammed, she said she had no intention of publishing it and that she used
lyrics from the Avett Brothers song to create the story, incorporating them
throughout the story. Although Hoover had no intention of getting her first
novel published, it got reviewed and surprising received five stars from Maryse
Black, a famous book blogger when the novel was ready. This review took
Hoover's novel, 'Slammed', to a whole new level, rapidly increasing its sales
and Slammed made it to the New York Times Best Seller list.
Slammed sold so well,
it got itself a sequel, which Hoover titled ‘Point of Retreat’. This sequel
also made it to the New York Times Bestseller list.
BIBLIOGRAPHY
Slammed
Hoover's debut novel,
Slammed, was released in January 2012. The novel was self-published and by July
22 2012, Slammed made the New York Times Bestseller list. Then by August 5,
2012, it was Number 8 on the e-book fiction. With Slammed making waves in such
a short time, Atria Books picked interest in it and by August 10 of 2012, Atria
books republished.
Point of Retreat
Point of Retreat is another of Hoover's self-published books and her second novel. A sequel to her first novel, 'Slammed'. Hoover published Point to Retreat in February of 2012. Atria Books liked it as they did Slammed, so they picked it up and republished it on August 10 2012. The novel also made it to the New York Times Bestseller list on July 29 2012, and it peaked at number 18 on August 5.
This Girl
. The novel 'This
Girl' is Hoover's third novel and is the third part of her first novel
'Slammed'. Hoover had made Slammed a series, and the novel This Girl is
considered the final part of the Slammed series. This Girl was published on
April 30 2013, by Atria Books. Less than a month after its publication, This
Girl made it to the New York Times Best Seller, taking the Number 9 position.
A Father’s Kiss
Also known as THE
KISS: An Anthology of Love and Other Close Encounters, Hoover had written a
short story as a follow-up to the Slammed series. The book talked about how a
kiss is a simple communication that can mean several other things: Love,
betrayal, goodbye, and more. THE KISS: Anthology of Love and Other Close
Encounters was published in January 2014.
Hopeless
The novel Hopeless is
about a girl that was homeschooled at the early stage of her life before she
enrolled in a public High School. She gets to school and gets faced with
challenges in school, and eventually, she meets Love. She encounters her
childhood friend, whom she doesn't remember anymore, and they fall in Love.
This novel was
published in December 2012. It is also a self-published book by Hoover. The
book made it to the New York Times Bestseller on January 6 2013, being number
19 on the list. By January 20, Hopeless hit the number 1 chat, topping other
books. Hopeless stayed on the number 1 bestseller list for three weeks.
Hopeless became the first-ever self-published book to make it to the New York
Times Bestseller list, winning the Number 1 bestselling self-published book
e-book of 2013. Hoover maintained her rights to the e-book but sold the
paperback rights to Atria Books in January 2013. Atria Books released the
paperback on May 7 2013.
Losing Hope
On July 8, 2013, Atria
Books published 'Losing Hope'. The book is described as a POV companion to the
novel 'Hopeless'. On July 28, 2013, 20 days after its release, Losing Hope made
it to the New York Times Bestselling list, taking the number 6 position.
Finding Cinderella
Finding Cinderella is a short novel created from Hoover’s novels ‘Hopeless’ and ‘Losing Hope’ in which she features many of the same characters from the two previous novels. Hoover wrote finding Cinderella as a form of thank you, to appreciate her fans for their love and support. The book was first delivered as a digital book for free. However, Hoover's fans were in Love with the book such that; The demand for the book got so high that Hoover and Atria Books thought they should publish a paperback of the book. Atria Books published the paperback and added some fun features, including a new epilogue and Hoover's own "Cinderella Story".
Maybe Someday
Maybe Someday is
another of Hoover's exciting novels, which talked about the love triangle of a
young man, a girl, and the young man's girlfriend. The young man and the Girl
work together. They write music together, and they eventually fall in love with
each other, despite the young man having a girlfriend.
Maybe Someday was
published by Atria Books on March 18, 2014, and it made it to New York Times
Bestselling List at Number 3 on April 6 2014. Then on September 14, 2014, Maybe
Someday found its way back to the New York Times Bestselling List; this time,
it was Number 21 on the list.
The book had this life
feeling to it as Hoover had collaborated with a musician Griffin Peterson to
write a song for the story. Together, they created a beautiful soundtrack for
the novel. A link was created and attached to the e-book novel so that the
readers could click and listen to the song, and for the paperback, there was a
QR Scan code in which when the reader's scan, it will take them to a site where
they get to listen to the music, for free.
Ugly Love
Ugly Love is a novel
about an airline pilot and a young lady. They aren't ready for a relationship,
but they have a strong connection that could not keep them apart. Hence they
embark on a no strings attached relationship. While some readers found the book
interesting, others thought the book was unrealistic and dangerous for anyone
to believe in; letting someone that is broke use you with the mindset that
someday they would open up and confess they love you right back.
Atria Books published
ugly Love on August 5, 2014. Ugly Love made it to the New York Times
Bestselling List on August 24, as Number 4. Ugly Love also received a review
from Booklist and was on The New York Times Bestselling List for three weeks.
The book caught the attention of many, such that movie productions took an
interest in it. Hackybox Pictures has bought off the film rights and is
currently working on producing the movie. The male lead character would be play
by the Canadian model and actor Nick Bateman.
Never Never
Never Never is a
novella series Hoover had written with the South African born novelist, Tarryn
Fisher. Never was initially published on January 8 2015. The book consists of
three parts; Part 1, 2 and 3. The story, in summary, talks about two young
couples who have been best friends since they were toddlers and fell in love
with each other at the age of fourteen and then suddenly, they both lose their
memories and must find out what happened to them and why they were dating
regardless, in the first place initially. Never Never is more about Love, lies
and deceit.
Confess
Confess is another of
Hoover's books that made it to the bestselling list. Confess is focused on the
life of a lady trying to rebuild her shattered life and also determined that
everything goes perfectly in her life. She has no intention of welcoming any
form of mistake. in any case, she falls deeply in love with a young man she has
met in searching for a job. The Love swipes them off their feet, but she soon
discovers the young man is keeping a big secret from her.
Confess was published
by Atria Books on March 10, 2015; it became Number 9 on New York Times
Best-selling list on March 29 2015.
The story was so
intriguing that its film rights were bought off and created into a Television
series. The series is aired on go90.com and the go90 app.
Number Nine
November 9 is a
memorable love story between a writer and his muse. They both share an
attraction, and the writer uses the lady's (muse) life experiences to develop
and build his story. However, they agreed to meet on the same date every year
to share their different life experiences with each other. That date was
November 9.
November 9 was
published by Atria Books on November 10 2015. How interesting.
November Nine made it
on the New York Times Best-selling list on November 29.
Ends With Us
It Ends with Us is
another of Hoover's books, and according to Hoover, the book was based on the
relationship between her parents. It Ends with Us was published by Atria Books
on August 2, 2016.
According to Hoover,
It Ends with Us is the most challenging book she has ever written.
The novel also made it
to the New York Times Best-seller List.
Without Merit
Without Merit is a
novel based on family, Love and the power of truth. The story talks about how a
girl is being forced to keep her family's secret so that they can keep painting
a perfect family picture to the public. Meanwhile, the family is unhappy, and
the mother lives in the basement, step-siblings are frustrated, and the younger
ones can't blend in. However, she must at some point tell the truth.
Without Merit was
published on October 3, 2017, by Atria Books. All Your Perfects
This fiction of 320
pages is a heartbreaking page Turner, focused on a troubled marriage, a broken
couple and an old promise that may be the only way to save their marriage from
falling apart. The couple's perfect Love is threatened by their imperfect marriage,
where memories, mistakes and, secrets have built up over the years. Can their

Atria Books published
all Your Perfects on July 17 2018. It was likewise on the New York Times
Best-selling List.
Too Late
In the book Too Late,
Hoover took a dark path in this story, unlike her usual form of writing. The
story is about a strong-willed college girl who would do anything for the
people she loves. She ends up involved
with an egotistical man who regards her as nothing, but yet she stays with him
since he deals with her more youthful sibling's bills. However, a new young man
is introduced to the story, who falls in love with the strong-willed college
girl. This story isn't the regular kind of Hoover's story. The story is rated
18+ due to its sting language, murder and rape. However, people's reaction to
the story varies; as many thoughts, the story was trying too hard to be edgy.
Others agreed to like the dark part and secrets, while many complained that the
characters are underdeveloped.
Too Late was initially
published on May 3, 2018.
Regretting You
Regretting you was
originally published on December 10, 2019, by Montlake. The book was Number 1
on Wall Street Journal Bestseller. People Magazine refers to the novel as
"a poignant addictive read".
The fiction story of
366 pages is about the relationship between a mother and her daughter who are
nothing alike. They had warring personalities and conflicting goals that made
coexisting so tricky for them. Their father, the family's anchor, holding them
together, encounters an accident that cuts through the mother and daughter, so
much that they grow apart. They are so apart, and they may never fall back
together.
A lot of readers love
the story, describing how brilliant and mind changing it is.
Heart Bones
Heart Bones is Colleen
Hoover's book that had her readers excited, impressed and heartbroken. The
story has raised many emotions, leaving readers with mixed feelings. A lot of
reviews showed that her readers cried, while many others were left speechless
at how the story turned out.
The novel depends on
the existence of a teenager who a drug addict mother raised. She had just
finished High School when her mother died of an overdose, and she was forced to
live with her father, whom she barely didn't know too well. Spending the summer
at her father's house and mourning her mother's death, she attracts the
attention of another broken boy. Though they know their romance is just for the
summer, they enjoy it as though it was lifelong.

Hoover married William
Heath Hoover in 2000, two years after she graduated from High School. She and
Heath Hoover have three sons. Their names are Cale Hoover, Beckham Hoover and
Levi Hoover.
